Our earth is very beautiful. We just need to make an effort to experience it. Many of the plants and creatures featured in the film were modelled on our natural world. Cameron built a beautifully entertaining movie...
But who could imagine millions of citizens of the USA openly cheering during the part of the movie when insurgents were killing US Marines? We can either become depressed or become patriotic, e.g. use fewer fossil fuels and fight to have the US gov't spend $1T+ annually on military.
P.S. I've also heard the movie remind people of what Europeans did to Native Americans four hundred years ago...

Isn’t this sort of an admission, that these people are insane? The depressing aspect of this to me is; these people get to vote in political elections. My guess is 9 out of 10 of these depressed people are liberals. Perhaps liberalism is the underlining condition to this depression. Let me help everyone connect the dots... That paradise is gone forever, and most of us are stuck in the modern world. As far as Avatar goes it was a visually beautiful movie and a romantic story but not of course real. The battle between the good and the evil side of humanity if you will is a perpetual one. But this battle gives us the opportunity to grow and mature as individuals and as a society. Never give up on the good fight and may the "Farm" be with you!
I know of an 8 yr old who told his grandmother he didn't want to be a human anymore because humans destroy things.
My 14 year old had somewhat of the same feeling. He asked me why are humans so selfish. If this movie is making the younger generations question what we have been doing to the world then that is a good thing. We can hope they make the right changes.

i had this avatar depression ...and knowing that one day in heaven it could actually be something like pandora it helped but kinda made it worst ....althought there maybe a long wait for this god says we will be 100% satisfied and that we will walk with the animals and we will grow to be very tall and live eternal lives .....sounds good to me and if i have to sit through this shity life then im fine with that. in the end i will smile.

Ok, I'm sorry, but if people can't watch a visually stunning movie without becoming depressed or suicidal we have a bigger problem. What people need to realize is that everything in this movie, and any other for that matter, resides inside the mind and sometimes the hearts of its creators. Seriously Tom, you have no soul. Pandora is so wonderful. Its almost like Willy Wonka's house. I have wanted to live there for years and still open candy bars to this very day wishing I could get a golden ticket. All Avatar did was remind me of how ridiculous life is here on earth. Make believeblue alien planets are ten times better. I only hope my kids can grow up with the Na'vi and play dodgeball with recycled plastic from earth.

There STILL are places like Pandora on our own planet. The great reefs of Australia, the under water beauty near Bosnia, The mountains of the Adirondacks, the spiked peaks of the Ankarana Reserve, the chocolate mountains of the philippines...there are thousands of places like Pandora in this world. We just need to preserve them.

The beauty of the story is beyond anything I have ever seen in our world. This movie won my heart on the first round...and I had to take my mom to see it so I could see it a second time. I loved the spirituality in the movie, I am not confused by it...it is worth watching several times...as each time I see it...I get more out of it.
