Celebrity Black Card, a mobile app that fosters the connection between celebrities and brands, held an event in Hollywood where vendors could showcase their latest products and services while contributing to a charity of their choice per VIP visit to their table.
Goods on offer included many eco-friendly, organic items, such the organic combined toothpaste and rinse from Essential Oxygen, 100 percent certified argan oil for the hair and skin from Pura D'or and Casablanca, seasoned seitan meat substitute from Taft Foodmasters, and trail mix, raw chocolate and spirulina chips from Divine Organics.
Leash and Lodge, a pet sitting, dog walking and in-home pet boarding service, teamed up with Ruff Patches, a charity that offers behavior support and training and financial aid for needy pet owners. Mimi a la Mode, whose cute sleep masks, aprons and shower caps were a hit with the ladies, was supporting City of Hope in honor of the designer's mother, who died of uterine cancer. SAAS Hot Sauce pointed out that it donates proceeds to the nonprofit Earth Center of Maanu, and Love-Water raised awareness for its efforts to help those without safe drinking water. Its most recent project was installing wells in Zambia.
Other highlights: the rhinestone bra straps from Fashion Forms' Lingerie Solutions line; jewelry from Glitterings, especially Real Housewife Jill Zarin's (pictured right) line of cocktail rings and statement necklaces; preservative-free mineral makeup from Mica Beauty; lightweight non-leather ballet flats for women and kids from SWYT Culture; and Just Like Sugar, no-carb sweetener made from chicory root, vitamin C, calcium and orange zest that's available at Whole Foods and comes in baking blends and flavored waters. It's calorie-, gluten-, dairy- and preservative-free and — hooray! — doesn't have that awful chemical aftertaste common to other sweeteners.
