The coverage of New Year’s Eve can get a little noisy with rock bands and singers belting out their latest hits in Times Square. Instead of listening those songs, why not play some actual New Year’s songs this year at your rocking New Years Eve party?

Auld Lang Syne
The traditional New Year’s song, “Auld Lang Syne” is a Scottish poem written in 1788 by Robert Burns. It was then set to a traditional folk song, whose tune we’re all very familiar with by now.

Happy New Year by ABBA
Yes, the Swedish pop music group recorded a New Year’s song. Here’s the video of the song in all its early 1980s soft focus glory.

Wassailing Song
This wassailing song is often associated with Christmas, but works just as well for the New Year.

New Year’s Day by U2
We can’t think of a music list that shouldn’t include U2 somehow, and luckily they have their own New Year’s song for us to enjoy.

What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? by Ella Fitzgerald
A classic from one of the best, it’s the perfect song to set your New Year’s Eve party e-vites to.

It's Just Another New Year's Eve by Barry Manilow
A melancholic melody with hopeful lyrics, this little New Year’s song is a nice wind-down to your party.

It Was a Very Good Year by Frank Sinatra
A nostalgic song from old Blue Eyes, this Sinatra song will have you reflecting on years gone by.

1999 by Prince
Yes, it’s not 1999 any longer, but Price’s party anthem to the not actual turn of the millennium is still a great New Year’s song.
