Nikki Reed is on a one-woman recycling mission. "It's very upsetting to me but apparently my building does not have recycling. They say that the city separates it but I don't believe it and I don't feel good about mixing all my trash. So I do it on my own. There's a man who comes to my alley and collects cans and stuff so I give it to him," she told us at the launch party for the fashion collection UK Style by French Connection. Reed was on a break from back-to-back shooting on the two "Breaking Dawn" movies that will close the "Twilight" saga. "We're almost done, like four more weeks," she said, not quite sure how she'll react when it's over, since in the past there was always another installment to look forward to.

 

Her role in the first three "Twilight" films was minimal, and she's considered it "weird to be part of a series that you’re not really in. When people said they loved them you say thank you but you know it's not because of you." But it's a different story in "Breaking Dawn," in which her character Rosalie has a more important role. Bella and Edward have a daughter, "and Rosalie takes care of the baby, raises the child. I've been working every day."

 

She wears high-heeled dance shoes on "Dancing With the Stars," but off-screen Anna Trebunskaya raves about her flip-flops. "I just got a great recycled, eco-friendly pair I love even though they make noise on my hardwood floor," said the pro, who's partnered with boxer Sugar Ray Leonard on Season 12 of the ballroom contest, which premieres on ABC March 21. Her challenge has been to break Leonard of his face-protecting, hunkered down boxing stance in teaching him their first dance, the fox trot, but hopes that his nimble footwork and personality will make up for his posture. "He's a fun guy," she said. "He's a performer and I'm looking forward to seeing him perform."

 

"My whole house is pretty much green. I got the fake grass from Forever Lawn so you don't have to use all that water. That's my contribution," said Jaime King, who also buys organic food at Trader Joe's and farmers markets instead of eating out. "I know I've saved thousands of dollars," she noted. King, who showed up at the event in the same leopard print UK Style sequined mini as friend Nikki Hilton (who belted hers), didn't mind the double vision and saw it as an example of recycling. "You can wear what you have in your closet a million different ways. That's important in this economy."

 

King recently shot a pilot for a potential CW series called "Hart of Dixie," in which she plays "the daughter of the most prominent man in town" opposite Rachel Bilson as a doctor who's moved to town to start her practice. It's from Josh Schwartz ("Gossip Girl"), and King turned down other offers for the chance to work with him. "Josh has an incredible track record, and I really like the CW. They don't try to make a gazillion pilots. They make six quality ones."
