In a spinoff of her Oxygen reality series "Tori & Dean," Tori Spelling turns wedding planner in "sTORIbook Weddings," premiering April 6, and she's making the affairs as eco-friendly as possible. "We try to use green products like invitations on recycled paper, and we make a lot of our stuff rather than buy it," says Spelling, who composts at home for her garden, where she grows carrots, strawberries, blueberries, radishes and bok choy. She also raises chickens for fresh eggs.

As viewers of "Tori & Dean" are aware, Spelling adores throwing parties for her family and friends, including weddings. "I've always loved planning parties and I think it's a natural progression," she says of the show. "It combines the two things I love most, parties and love, and I wanted to do it for other people."

Eight couples were selected from about 200 applicants. "I was looking for people who had great personal stories, people that really needed help. Most had a really tiny budget but big dreams. One couple put their last $5,000 down on a venue and the guy stole their money. I also look for themes," she says, noting that these included "everything from Indian to Arabian Nights, Marie Antoinette, shabby chic, a Jewish pug wedding — a couple obsessed with pugs. There was a budget for each wedding but I tried to fulfill their wishes and then some, take what their vision is and bring it to the next level."

She's now back to filming the sixth season of "Tori & Dean," and reports that her kids Stella and Liam are "almost three and four, and they take care of each other. They love each other." Now that she's mended her relationship with her mother Candy after years of estrangement, viewers will see her in the series. "She's in our lives, in the kids' lives. Things are really good right now," says Spelling, who's also working on a new book, "a party planning book called 'CelebraTORI.' Then I'll do my fourth memoir."
