Abandoned car cemetery in Chatillon looks like a traffic jam

Chatillon Car Graveyard

This gloomy scene may appear to come straight out of "The Walking Dead" (or maybe a spinoff of Stephen King's "Pet Sematary,") but don't worry, there are zero zombies involved.

Despite the resemblance to a grim doomsday traffic jam, these abandoned cars are in reality parked in an old junkyard on the west side of Chatillon, a small village near Ardennes, Belgium. The rusty retro vehicles have been sitting there for 70 years, plenty of time for the surrounding wilderness to almost overtake them.

Theo Van Vliet captured these photos in May 2009, a year before the junkyard owner was forced to clear the cars away for environmental reasons.
