Gozo, Malta

This scenic island, the second largest in Malta, is a favorite of tourists trying to escape the historic but narrow and crowded streets of the main island. One of the most memorable scenes in the series, the marriage of Daenerys Targaryen and Genghis Khan-like Khal Drogo, was filmed at Gozo's most scenic site, an arching rock formation known as the Azure Window. The surrounding areas of Dwejra were also used during season one's scenes featuring the nomadic Dothraki people.
