CESiaK
Centro Ecologico Sian Ka'an, or CESiaK, is an ecotourism and education center located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. Operating entirely on wind and solar power, the resort has very little impact on its surroundings, and it works hard to maintain the area's natural, wild state. In fact, the center and its cabanas were built on the physical ruins of an old resort so that no new vegetation would have to be cleared, and the property is home to two nurseries that help breed native plants. CESiak has also developed wetland waste treatment systems to recycle gray water, and it collects rain water for guests' water needs. Locals were hired to construct the center, and today CESiak's employees are also natives.
