Teapot Dome

This gas station’s unique architecture was intended as a humorous reminder of the Teapot Dome scandals that rocked President Warren G. Harding’s administration and sent Interior Secretary Albet Fall to prison for leasing government oil reserves in Teapot Dome, Wyo. Built in 1922 and now closed, the Zillah, Wash., Teapot Dome Service Station was once one of the oldest operating stations in the U.S. When Interstate 82 was built, the gas station was relocated less than a mile down the Yakima Valley Highway, and it’s now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
