When you think of Hollywood, the stars in the sky are not usually what spring to mind. However, Griffith Park Observatory, which sits within sight of the famed Hollywood sign, offers some spectacular astronomical views. While the city of Los Angeles produces a fair amount of light pollution, observers are still able to see planets and stars from its hilltop perch. Further, the cratered details of the moon explode into precision when observed through the observatory’s many telescopes. And for those struck by the other kind of star, it has also been the site of several iconic movie sets, such as 1955’s "Rebel Without a Cause."
