Saving money requires creativity, not only in terms of accommodations and transportation but also scheduling. The budget travel set is well-known for staying in affordable, family-owned guesthouses, taking local transportation and even forgoing taxis in favor of bicycles or walking — choices that are also a bonus for the environment and local economies.
