Tired of cruise ship pollution, frozen airplane food, or hours driving in a gas-guzzling car to get to your favorite vacation spot? Why not try a weekend getaway that not only provides relaxation but also encourages a healthy and sustainable lifestyle? Get back in touch with Mother Nature by traversing great North American national parks and resting your head in one of several lodges that can only be reached by foot (or in some cases, by bike, ski or horse).

I've stayed at Scaritt Creek Lodge and LeConte Lodge (which are owned by the same people, by the way). Both places are amazing and also completely different from each other. Scaritt Creek is in a valley, LeConte Lodge is on top of the 3rd highest peak in the Smokey Mountains, Mt. LeConte. Both are incredible.
