Now you can help save whales just by taking a photo of yourself — with your wrists together and hands apart to form a whale tail shape.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare’s launched a Tails for Whales Campaign that invites you to send in your whale tale photo to supply images for ads, posters, news stories, and other attention-getting efforts — all to protect whales around the world. You’d be adding your mug and tail to those of celebrities like Amber Valletta and Dylan Walsh, who’ve already posed to support the campaign.

Kristin BauerAnd fans of True Blood will get an extra incentive to add their whale tail photo next week! True Blood’s Kristin Bauer wants you to join her on Sat., Nov. 7, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at LUSH Cosmetics, 1404 Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Calif.

There, you can meet Kristin, learn more about whales from Jeff Flocken, the D.C. office director for International Fund for Animal Welfare, and pose for your own whale tail pic — for which you’ll be rewarded with a free bag of Whale Tail chips! Plus, the first 100 people to RSVP for the event to tailsforwhales@lush.com will get a free Big Blue Bath Bomb from LUSH.

Won’t be in Santa Monica that day? Then simply submit your whale tail photo online. No, you won’t get free chips or an autograph from Kristin sent via email — but you’ll be putting your hands toward a good eco-cause to help out whales.
