For every eco-fashionistas with two left thumbs, a new custom upcycling service is popping up. If you’ve gotten an ugly old sweater Reknit into a pretty scarf and drab sneakers artistically transformed into new unique kicks, then you’ll be interested in Re-Shirt Sax — a new service that will transform your no-longer-loved T-shirt into a spiffy new-to-you reusable bag.

Simply pack up your old T-shirt along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and an order form to Erin Damm, designer and creative director of Re-Shirt Sax, who lives in the Bay Area. Then Erin and Re-Shirt Sax’s marketing and sales director Sally Damron will work their upcycling magic on your shirt — sending it back to you in its new bag form four to six weeks later. The service costs between $20 to $40 — depending on the size of the T-shirt you send in — plus postage.

Already have enough reusable bags? Then simply donate your old T-shirts to Re-Shirt Sax to be used in education programs for a new generation of environmentalists. Already donated all your old T-shirts? Shop from ready-made upcycled shirt-bags at Re-Shirt Sax’s Etsy store. Prices range from $18 to $65, depending on the size, features, and design of the bag. The bags are reversible, so you can make two fashionable eco-statements with each bag.
