Turn a dress into a Moroccan pouf

Cereal boxes and no-longer-loved party dresses are really business card holders and Moroccan poufs-to-be....

Fri, Jul 31 2009 at 10:54 PM EST

Have some FREE creative fun with upcycling unwanted things into new useful objects this weekend! A few cool tutorials to try:

morrocanpouf by you.

>> Got a party dress you no longer wear? Make your own Morrocan pouf! (via Re-Nest) Samantha Baldwin gives you detailed instructions -- with a free pattern and a photo slideshow -- for creating one of these. Depending on what you have on hand, the entire project could be free (except for your time)! The pouf won't take up too much space and will be versatile to boot, Samantha points out: "A pouf can double as a footstool, end table, extra seating and even storage."

businesscards by you.

>> Make a pretty business card holder. Lolaness has photo-illustrated, step-by-step instructions at EcoEtsy Street Team blog for crafting one of these handy things. Just find some repurposable cardboard -- an old cereal box, maybe? -- and a few simple crafting tools and get cutting and folding. You can add on your own embellishments at the end to give your box a personal touch.

>> Earlier today, fellow MNN blogger Jenn Savage shared video instructions on how to make a recyled book flower frame.
