Wearing vintage clothing and accessories is one of the most accessible and affordable (not to mention creative) ways to reduce the environmental impact of your wardrobe and home goods. So every week, I comb Etsy and eBay and find beautiful vintage pieces around a particular theme. (Check out last week's entry, "Unique holiday decor.")

The darkest days of the year are upon us, which is one of the reasons that all the holidays — Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's, are all about celebrations of light. Wearing sparkly clothes or accessories is not only fun, it creates light and distributes it around, ensuring you are the star of the party. Go big with a sequined dress, or more low-key with a pair of vintage silver pumps, and celebrate all that glitters.

This perfect party dress is covered with sequins and is by junkprints out of Brooklyn, NYC.

These sweet sparklers will definitely catch even the dimmest party lights. Crystal on the top and rhinestone on the bottom, this vintage piece is available from tiedupmemories.

What could be more festive and fun than a vintage sequined beret from the '70s? Paired as shown here with a little black dress, and you are ready to party. You can find the one-of-a-kind piece at MonDesirVintage.

This 1940s-era mini tiara is a fun piece that might be hard to pull off any other time of year, but the darkest days of the season demand light, even if it's reflected from candles. Pile up your hair, slide the comb in, and get ready for a night of fun with this whimsical piece from Maryangelasjewels.

A bit of sparkle in your shoes is an easy way to draw attention to lovely legs, or to your dancing feet. These '70s disco shoes are on offer from 303vintage.
