Fermented-wine dress

If you’re looking for some truly vintage clothing, look no further than scientist Gary Cass’ “cave woman” dress. The “cloth” is formed by taking the cellulose off the surface of fermenting wine and layering it around a blow-up doll. As the material shrinks, it takes the form of the body. The dress must be kept wet because the fibers aren’t long enough to be flexible, but Cass explains that “this is art — it’s not meant to be practical.”
