VERSATILE: The Gladiator Vegan Sandals have a metallic silver finish and gold studs.
Natalie Portman, celeb vegetarian extraordinaire, has been known to sport cruelty-free kicks, so you’ll be in good company if you decide to make the leap as well. One site worth checking out is Vegetarian Shoes and Bags, which just started carrying eco brands like Earth, Ecolution, CL Laundry, Madden Girl, Punk Rose, and Simple.
We perused the site a bit, and liked the Gladiator Vegan Sandals ($29.99!). Though you won’t see any overt eco-claims in the product description, these sling backs are cruelty free and 100% vegan. The metallic silver finish, gold studs, and one inch wedge heel make them work-able for a night on the town or for daywear. For more casual situations, we liked the World Peace Flip Flop ($24.99), which comes in white or black. The metal peace sign attached to the upper strap isn’t too subtle, but if you like to shout it out loud, these are for you.
