Photo: Why Reuse A Cup?
Headed out to grab a cup of coffee this morning? Make sure you grab a reusable mug, too. If you think it doesn't really matter, think again.
According to this neat infographic from Factory Direct Promos (they promote things like branded reusable mugs), Americans use a whopping 25 billion paper cups each year! That adds up to 363 million pounds of waste and the loss of more than 9 million trees.
Bottom line: Every little cup adds up. Do your part to save trees, reduce pollution and minimize waste by bringing a reusable mug with you this morning — and don't forget to grab your reusable water bottle before you head out to lunch.
Here's why you should reuse your cup each and every time:

Daniel is correct the chart is WRONG. 2.6 cups per tree is simply ludicrous.
I agree with Liz. So next time, save your $1 or more for the drink and fill your cup with water.
Something is wrong with the numbers on that chart. If you do the math it says that you get only 2.6 paper cups per tree (25 billion cups / 9.4 billion trees). The paper from a single tree will produce tens of thousands of cups.
Doesn't the chart say 9.4 million?
I think the first 9.4 is a typo; the second one at the bottom sounds more correct.
Awesome Infographic! I just wanted to add that I use my own cup for coffee / drinks throughout the day. I went to my local McDonalds for a quick lunch and wanted Tea. The woman behind the counter said she could put the tea in a paper or Styrofoam cup and I can pour it into my own cup...what does that do to save a cup? I instead opted for my not so liked soda choice where the fountain was out in the dining area. I think all places should be able to fill a cup of an eco minded person instead.
Unfortunately for health and safety reasons, McDonalds and other food outlets CANNOT take your cup into their sanitary area, Cross contamination is a big no no.
