Very nice pictures, John. And I keep reimidnng myself that about half your hours are in darkness where you can't necessarily see the world around you. That must make the sightseeing all that much more precious. Don't run into anything while recording your world in pictures!

I smile at the canning going on everywhere. About a year after I married, we moved to Wisconsin and bought a house outside of Madison in a small town. The house had a huge garden that begged to be used. I planted the whole thing. 48 tomato plants, 2 rows of corn, okra, melon, zucchini (a dozen plants!), a variety of peppers, rows of beans and peas. I canned like crazy. I remember our friends finding this decidedly odd, but my mother had had a small garden, a crabapple tree, and frequently would get

a bushel of something in season as well so I canned growing up. Now that it is the "hip" thing to do--I wonder how many of those people who scoffed back then or thought it foolish or "cute" now try canning or pay for "home canned" goods at farmer's markets.

Back to the basics, this is so in!
