The hippie continuum: What level hippie are you?
Lots of us can be considered hippies for one reason or another — like going solar. Which hippie classification are you?

Once I read the very first line (You named your kids "Deduction #1" and "Deduction #2"), it was obvious to me that that infographic was meant to be humorous. From what I have seen, MNN encourages loving and taking care of your children, not treating them as numbers on your income tax. So honestly, I can't see why people are getting so upset. It was meant to make people chuckle, since a lot (not all, but a lot I've seen) green news are all doom and gloom. Everyone has to laugh once in a while!

So basically this starts with the concept of "being green" going mainstream - then goes on to say that we are "all Hippies now" because of that - Then continues to say negative things about every "type" of hippie...

So basically you are trying to make people feel bad about themselves for going green? Doesn't seem to make sense to me...

ultimate frisbee is in fact a sport...similar to corn hole. it's very hard to get the frisbee in the bucket on the pole...try it some time. it takes skill

one: ultimate frisbee is not frisbee golf, which is the 'faux sport' you refer to... second: they also claim bowling is a sport, but i'm not buying it...

FRISBEE IS A SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My sister plays on an ultimate Frisbee team in her spare time and she played it in college. I resent the fact that people automatically assume it isn't one because they don't know much about it. Seriously people, check and make sure its true before putting it on the internet. Some people actually believe what they read on sites like these.

everyone has their own definition of a "hippie"... but to me it started with the ones who stood up for their beliefs and wanted to make a difference in the world, appreciating the small things and having respect and compassion for the people surrounding them. It's sad to me that so many people have come to define hippies as being strung out on drugs all the time because those addicted to drugs are the exact opposite of what i define as a hippie, they become aggresive, sketchy, and depressed..someone
.... More
who they are not really deep down, they don't know who they are at the time so don't put a label on them like you know. So please just because someone really finds happiness in nature and has long hair, do not classify them as a dirty hippie because some of us do really just feel at peace when in nature and want to change the world and were not judging you for whatever brings you peace and we want you to be happy too.

i totally agree with you. belief is something no one can question. we all have different beliefs and some people are hippies. they are people who find happiness in simple things. all they want is peace and freedom. and thats what we all shouldve had in the first place. we all have been cruel to each other. our society now feels like another world. we all hate each other for our differences. i think hippie/green going mainstream again will send the message that it is the sustainable lifestyle and
.... More
will nurture our future to a better way of living. i want to see the world peaceful and in harmony atleast before i die. so then i know what kind of world my love ones are gonna live in when im gone.

You're describing a buddhist. I go to a lot of hippie fests and while I consistently meet friendly folks, the latest generation of hippies ARE smoking and dosing too much and NOT getting active about making a difference in the world. I hope with some time they'll come to see the original hippie mindset.

Ooh! I have a good idea: get the same person who wrote this, using the same underlying agenda, to write a "What kind of Republican are you?" infographic.

"Infographic". Anyone else love that descriptor?

I think there's definitely another kind of hippie between 6 and 7. The kind who showers often, but still believes that if it's yellow it should mellow; who works hard and socializes plenty, but still walks everywhere and buys green electronics; who smokes weed but still puts in hard to effort to grow food, get cruelty-free meat, recycle everything, and use as little as possible; and who believes that understanding and respecting the earth is the only real way to proceed. Not to mention one who
.... More
liked that music long before drugs ever since their childhood lol. The urban intellectual hippy, guys. The one who's actually doing it right.

Hmmm, so limited and unresearched. The "Hippie" movement was triggered by the war in Vietnam. It's focus was Love and Peace towards our fellow man. Not bombing them back to the Stone Age, as secretary McNamara said we should do. Not one of these poor, stereotyped slices of an attempt to parse what Hippies were about comes close. Especially since the whole point of this article was to do nothing more than denigrate people who are concerned with the well-being of humanity and our (ONLY) environment.
.... More
Don't you think this was going just a tad overboard? Even if it was, supposedly, merely for humor's sake! Poor attempt man. You really need to check your pulse, I doubt you're truly alive.
