A different fall color scheme

As the seasons shift in California, I wonder if I'll miss Fall in New York.

This fall has been unlike any other that I've experienced. For one, it is the first year that I'm not in school. Usually, my seasons are defined by the pace of the academic year. For example, right about now I'd usually be admiring the changing of the leaves through library windows as midterms rolled around.

But the most important (and obvious) reason why I'm experiencing fall in a new way is because I'm in a new climate. Yes, this is my first official October as a California girl. And I couldn't be more excited. I'll admit that at first, I felt a bit homesick when I realized that I wouldn't see any falling leaves and would miss Warwick's famous Applefest, but I quickly got over that as I spent Oct. 2 tanning on the beach.

What I did realize is that this is an opportunity for me to experience fall in a whole new way. And when I do yearn for those New York apples, what makes it easier is beautiful sunsets like the one above, which I captured last weekend.
