Bloom Energy's electricity in a box

Silicon Valley energy company will publicly reveal its invention, the Bloom Box. It promises to cheaply provide clean energy for both homes and offices -- for less than $3,000.

60 Minutes' Feb. 21 episode gave us an inside peek into the Bloom Box, a fuel-cell-powered box that generates its power wirelessly through a combination of oxygen and a fossil fuel. I thought it was yet another invention in the clean tech space that wasn't going to catch on until I heard this: eBay installed six boxes, probably for around $3,000 each, nine months ago. How much have they already saved in energy costs? $100,000.

I'm going to be keeping my eyes glued to this technology when they release it to the public tomorrow. This could, maybe, might, potentially, actually be the next big thing in clean tech.
