Some of the more interesting points of Secretary Chu's talk at Stanford today:
  • The question isn't if we'll warm up, it is how much. The earth must warm up until an equilibrium is reached.
  • Prices of oil will go up in the coming decades since the oil of companies like ExxonMobil, Shell and BP are moving off shore.
  • 15 percent of China's energy will be renewable by 2020. How did the Chinese government make it happen? The Chinese government told its people the benefits.
  • Energy savings is greater from refrigerator efficiency than from all renewable energy in the United States.
  • Our body fat is one of the best fuels out there; even better than a lithium battery.
