Jutting up from where the Pacific Ocean meets the Santa Lucia Mountains, the Big Sur offers perhaps one of the most stunning views in all of California. The Bixby Creek Arch Bridge, about 120 miles south of San Francisco, played a huge role in connecting the surrounding small coastal towns with each other when California Highway 1 was completed in 1937.
