Colorado Springs Utilities is receiving Energy Star recognition, and partner of the year, for outstanding efforts to improve the energy efficiency of new residential construction in the Colorado Springs market. The company's accomplishments include exceeding its goal of 230 MWh of energy savings in 2007 by 18 percent, qualifying 190 homes and achieving 274 MWh of energy savings.

The EPA has recognized green building projects by Architecture West, LLC, and RB+B Architects, Inc. as Designed to Earn the Energy Star, the government’s mark of superior energy efficiency in building design. The awards were presented for setting a new standard for energy and environmental performance in building and design, leading the next generation of green buildings in Colorado.
