Aptly named Dinosaur National Monument is home to many fossils of dinosaurs (like those pictured) including Allosaurus, Stegosaurus and various long-neck, long-tail sauropods, first discovered here in 1909. There is a Dinosaur Quarry building that houses a dinosaur wall: a steeply tilted rock layer which contains hundreds of fossils for the public to see. In 2006 the quarry's visitor center was closed, but it was announced in April 2009 that Dinosaur National Monument would receive $13.1 million to refurbish and reopen the gallery as part of President Obama's $750 billion stimulus plan.
