These businesses have been honored for their green initiatives by city, state or national environmental agencies.

J. F. Fredericks Tool Co. recieved the 2008 GreenCircle Award from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection for executing changes that reduce annual energy or water consumption rates by more than 15%. They company implemented a facility-wide pollution prevention plan and a manufacturing processes which eliminates or significantly reduces the toxicity of a facility’s waste stream.
3 Architecture firms honored
The EPA unveiled the newest group of architecture projects to achieve Designed to Earn the Energy Star, the government’s mark of superior energy efficiency in building design.  The Conneticut projects include the Bishop Woods School by CT JCJ Architecture; the Christopher Columbus School by Svigals & Partners; and the Metropolitan Business Academy by The S/L/A/M Collaborative.

 

The town of Windsor Locks water pollution control facility was recently selected by the EPA for a Regional "Operations and Maintenance Wastewater Excellence Award." The staff of the Windsor Locks facility was recognized by EPA's New England Office for exceptional work in operating and maintaining the plant.
