Best romantic getaway
Roseledge Herb Farm and B&B
One couple called their stay "cozy, warm and inviting." Others said their stay at the Roseledge B&B
was their "best anniversary stay" and the "most relaxing weekend." The Roseledge historic Bed and Breakfast is open year round, but the whimsical garden shop and garden teas are best complemented by the warm summer sunshine. The B&B credited for its friendly welcome and wonderful food is located in Preston, in the heart of Mystic Country. Check out the herb shop, the gardens and garden teas, the honey sales at Roseledge and the charters and cruises and vineyards close by. Roseledge is also committed to going green. They air dry all of their laundry and rely on their organic farm.
Best family-friendly getaway
Mystic Seaport offers fun for the whole family, including music on the river, museums, dinner theater and ice cream socials. There are endless places to stay and things to do. Kids will thoroughly enjoy time at the Mystic Aquarium. While many aquariums have negative effects on the environment and ecosystem, the Mystic Aquarium is dedicated to helping many of the animals currently residing in the aquarium become ready for life in the wild.
But there's no need to step in a building to see Mystic wildlife! Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center is a wildlife sanctuary that offers a place for hiking, plant identification, bird identification and nature photography. The center is a 300-acre preserve with eight miles of hiking trails. The center is dedicated to environmental education and runs a summer camp to get kids outdoors every year. In Mystic Seaport, there is history and museums, nature and beaches, shops and ice creams stands, restaurants and wineries, music and nightlife, art and art galleries and additional summer activites including special exhibits, art festivals and chances to get out on the water. Mystic Seaport is great for a week-long adventure, a weekend trip, or just for the day!
