Eglin Air Force Base

The Eglin Air Force Base won the EPA's Energy Efficiency/Energy Program Management Award for its use of two major program initiatives to save energy and reduce costs. The base teamed with Gulf Power Company and Southern Company to implement energy efficiency projects that reduced consumption by more than 48 billion Btu and saved nearly $1 million in energy costs.
Pinellas County Utilities

Pinellas County Utilities won the EPA's Water Efficiency Leader Award for Water Utility for making water efficiency an integral part of their operations; including noted programs such as the Conservation Hotel and Motel Program. The comprehensive approach utilizes education and outreach.
Satellite Beach

The EPA recognized the city of Satellite Beach, Fla., as a 2008 recipient of the Building Healthy Communities for Active Aging Commitment Award.  By increasing the number of sidewalks, creating new parks, and rezoning its commercial strips into walkable town centers with homes, Satellite Beach has begun to create a place where residents can choose to walk or bike as part of their daily activities.
National Benefit Service Center

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded the family-owned National Benefit Service Center for its goal of making its urban food court in downtown Orlando energy efficient and as sustainable as possible. The family turned to the Energy Star Small Business website, joined green groups, and researched the project with many individuals.
