Friday, June 5, 2009 - 23:23
The tale of the Lorax and his precious Truffula trees is a children's story that still has merit in the adult world. Like the Once-ler, there are many companies today that run strictly on profits and fail to see long term consequences of their actions.
Never read "The Lorax"? Or don't remember it? Watch the video adaptation of the story:
I once heard a tale of the Truffula trees
These colorful plants that swayed in the breeze
And a greedy Once-ler that wanted fast cash
So away at the Truffula trees he started to slash
He chopped them far, he chopped them near
And the Lorax cried against it with words most sincere
But the Once-ler was profiting and filled with greed
So the wise words of the Lorax he did not heed
He cut and chopped from dusk to dawn
He cut and chopped till it all was gone
And when he looked at the damage done
He realized the true profit was little to none
As a child you heard many times
Silly stories with catchy rhymes
But the most important and timeless of these
Is Dr. Seuss’s tale of the Lorax and his Truffula trees
