(Photo: Sophie Gaze) This year's theme of UH Manoa's annual Earth Day Festival is "Building a Community of Sustainability," and the Environmental Center did not disappoint! Each Earth Day, UH hosts a festival on campus that is a very popular event for students, teachers, and other visitors.

The 2011 Earth Day Festival included sustainability workshops, organic/green vendors, live performances, an eco-fashion show, guest speakers, film screenings and much more eco-friendly entertainment for the students to enjoy. In addition, various educational booths were set up to raise awareness about sustainability and the harmful affects humans have on the environment.

Being a campus that is located on the most remote island chain in the world, the university is surrounded by ocean, mountains, rain forest and beaches. Therefore, nature and all things Earth Day are a big part of student lifestyle. A great deal of students at UH Manoa take sustainability seriously and do their part to care for their environment.
