Manny Flores, alderman of Chicago's 1st Ward, was announced today as the new chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission — which determines state utility rates.

In a news conference, Governor Pat Quinn applauded Flores for his vision, energy and "green way" of thinking and acting in Illinois. The focus of Flores' new post will be green energy initiatives and expansion of broadband access.

Check out this video of Flores speaking on behalf of Green Economy Chicago, a forum he created to discuss and develop ideas for green business.
