Man survives 6,000 ft fall without parachute

A film stunt that went horribly wrong ends on a happy note for one very lucky cameraman.

I found an insane video and article about a guy that survived a 6,000 foot fall without a parachute. Apparently they were filming a portion of a documentary in which another sky diver was being filmed. The signals got crossed somehow, however, and the cameraman never opened his chute until the last few seconds of the fall.

First of all, the idea of falling thousands of feet with a parachute scares the crap out of me. Second, how can people concentrate on filming rather than, say, thinking about the fact they are thousands of feet in the air?!

In any case, I have a lot of respect for people who can multitask like that, but next time, focus on pulling the cord instead of making sure the camera is rolling. Also, I hope they got their footage ...
