Earth Day is almost upon us, and I wanted to tell you about some of the activities that Louisville has planned.

 

The Falls of the Ohio State Park in New Albany recently celebrated their Earth Day.  There were organizations promoting green ideas, products, and activities for the whole family.  On April 22, E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park will be celebrating Earth Day.  They will take hikes, have a live animal demonstration, and a park clean-up.  Area businesses will be presenting on how they are becoming more green.  Call (502) 429-7270 for more information.

 

Two nationally represented companies will be celebrating Earth Day in Louisville.  WalMart will be giving away one million re-bags on Saturday, April 19 starting at 8 a.m.  Macy's will have in-store events that will raise funds for the National Park Foundation from April 20-27.

 

One of the most popular and beloved Earth Day celebrations in Louisville is held at the Louisville Zoo.  It's called "Party for the Planet", and it will be held this year on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There, you can learn about the zoo's conservation efforts, participate in eco-friendly activities, and enjoy amazing animal presentations.  On that day, there is a special discount admission for just $1 per person.  I've been attending Earth Day at the Louisville since it started, and it's a wonderful way to celebrate Earth Day with your family.  For more information about "Party for the Planet", visit the Louisville Zoo's website.
