Minnesota farmers markets, winterized

Minnesota and winter: two words that seem somewhat interchangeable. Now you can add 'farmers market' to that list. Yes, Minnesota winter farmers markets!

Last week it felt like spring in Minnesota — then we got another 22 inches of snow. The dumping of snow made me think fondly of the market that was near my house last summer. I wondered if there was a way to recreate that feeling, so I looked up Minnesota Grown and found winter farmers markets! Locavores will get their fix of locally raised meats, eggs, jams, jellies and more.
 
Second Saturday of the month, now through May
Hours: 8 a.m. to noon
 
Mill City Farmers Market at Local D'Lish
Feb. 19, March 19 and April 16
Hours: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
 
Every other Saturday, now through April
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon
 
Northeast Farmers Market at Eastside Food Co-op
Second Saturday of each month
Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 
Rochester Downtown Farmers Market at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds
March 5, 19; April 16, 23 and 30
Hours: 9 a.m. to noon
 
St. Joseph Farmers Market at Resurrection Lutheran Church
February 11, 25; March 11, 25; April 8
Hours: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
 
Every Saturday
Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
 
Thursdays and Fridays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2p.m.
 
Every third Sunday, now through May
Hours: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
