I love finding a place that is a surprise. After a day at the dog show, we asked a few local folks where we might stop and find a bite to eat at a locally owned establishment. We were told there is a steak house and a place called Whiskey River. As we approached the river area, I was glad that our advice included the appearance of a local joint so we knew we were at the right place and knew enough to go inside.
Our local guide had advised us to ask to sit in "The View" at the back of the building. What a fantastic surprise! A marvelous panoramic view of flora and fauna was available during our entire meal. In the area, literally leashed on dog tie-out cables to the walls were binoculars and bird guide books to help identify all the varieties in the beautiful space.
What a delightful treat to be able to eat and enjoy beautiful scenery at the same time. The Minnesota River Valley is a lovely area to walk, bike and ride horses. Combine this restaurant with a tour of the Minnesota River trails and you'll have a great day filled with enjoying nature.
