Heartland Harvest Garden features edible organics

By Molly Moore, Local CorrespondentSat, Jul 11 2009 at 7:16 PM EST

The new Heartland Harvest Garden is a 12-acre expansion of Powell Gardens, a non-profit botanical garden a half-hour drive southeast of Kansas City.  I explored it June 14, during the grand opening events.  Inspiring and educational, this edible garden demonstrates the viability of organic vegetable and fruit production.  In the video, the plants are still young and some construction remains, but that's just proof that Heartland Harvest Garden will do what gardens do best: grow.
