Do you have what it takes to be I LOVE NEW YORK's next Greenest New Yorker?

I LOVE NEW YORK, New York State's tourism promotion agency, and EscapeMaker.com are seeking to celebrate those individuals who, like me, are doing their part to keep the Empire State green with the second annual contest to find the "Greenest NYer." One of the many perks includes traveling and writing for the fabulous Diaries of the Greenest NYer blog! Plus, Escapemaker.com will donate $500 to the green non-profit of the winner's choice, which is a wonderful way for winners to pay it forward and extend the goodwill.

To apply, and to find a full list of contest entry rules and regulations, contestants can tell I LOVE NEW YORK in 250 words or less why they deserve the title of "Greenest NYer." Contestants are highly encouraged to include videos and photographs in their submissions. You can also spread the word through Facebook and Twitter, and stay tuned for any contest updates.

Entries for the Greenest NYer contest must be received by midnight on April 5, 2011. Public voting will begin April 7 online and the top three candidates will be named finalists, to be judged by a panel of expert judges. The panel includes travel correspondent Valarie D'Elia of Travel with Val and NY1; Kate Sinding, senior attorney at the National Resource Defense Council and expert contributor to the blog Switchboard; and Executive Chef Matt Weingarten (Inside Park at St. Barts, Manhattan) who forages for his ingredients seasonally at farmers markets and even in Central Park. Also, Peter Lindabury, LEED AP and consultant for the new Conference Center at Lake Placid will join the panel, along with yours truly.

Good luck!
