Nationwide Marketing Group
Building on its 2006 Excellence in Energy Star Promotion award, Nationwide continued expanding communications and campaigns, and further enhanced the promotional efforts that proved so effective the previous year.  The company also bolstered sales of Energy Star qualified products by emphasizing the benefits they provide to the consumer, as well as to the environment. 
West End Revitalization Association received a 2008 Environmental Justice Achievement Award for addressing environmental hazards affecting low-income and minority communities. WERA led initiatives that resulted in first-time safe water and sewer services for residents of Mebane, and provided job training for youth and young adults to prepare them to better address their health and economic disparities. 
Food Lion has received Energy Star Sustained Excellence recognition. Food Lion, a low-price grocery leader, achieved phenomenal savings in energy consumption and costs while reducing the company's environmental footprint. The U.S. Department of Energy awarded the company for saving almost 30 billion Btus and $532,000. They have also reduced energy use by more than 27 percent since 2000.
