The nation's first public university, the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, opened its doors to students on Jan. 15, 1795. The beautiful and historic campus is worth an afternoon stroll. If you're up for some sports, take in a football, basketball, baseball or soccer game. Franklin Street is also popular for its vibrant nightlife scene.
