This West Coast state has a little bit of everything: breezy beaches, green forests, mountains for climbing and even an active volcano. The state also has dry meadows, prairies and deserts, which make it the country's leader in forest fires.
Its variety makes Oregon a state where people want to live. Population increased by 20.3 percent over a 10-year period. The state has great public education and the close proximity of the University of Oregon to Oregon State University makes for an exciting rivalry. Oregon is also home to many breweries. Cold beer makes for a refreshing drink after enjoying the great Oregon outdoors, which is easy to do: Over half of the state is national forest. (Text: Meredith Darlington/MNN)
