Green power switch

We can now switch to green energy sources for our own homes!

So often, we are made to feel helpless about the growing fuel crisis.  We are, after all, mere citizens not included in the political debate on the environment, right?  We have been warned of the dangers of fossil fuels by those "in the know," but does this mean that we should preach abstinence?  Cold showers, candles, and sweat were never what we touted; we at MNN merely wanted to set the stage for change by grabbing your attention (well, they got mine).  The greater our awareness of the impending doom via fossil fuels, the more motives we have for a radical change.

As it turns out, however, we do not even need a radical change.  The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is now offering a green switch.  By filling out this form to sign up with your current electricity supplier, Tennessee residents can pay only four extra dollars a month for greener fuel.  This is such a tiny price to pay as the alternative energy revolution becomes an economic supply-and-demand issue.  By offering up this small sum, we are voting/donating our dollars towards a cause we believe in: reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.  As more residents sign up for this change, the added cost will be needless.  It will be so much cheaper in the end to use alternative fuels, even if we still use supplementary amounts of fossil fuels.  Baby steps, right?

So here is your first step.  Participate with me and do this!  Sign up to include your home on the worldwide "green map."  It takes, oh, about two minutes -- and that's just finding your NES account number!
