These businesses have been honored for their green initiatives by city, state or national environmental agencies.

Austin Energy has received Energy Star Sustained Excellence recognition, successfully collaborating with Texas Gas Service and Austin Water to market the benefits of home performance with Energy Star to more than 310,000 homeowners.  This effort saved nearly 6,000 pounds of carbon dioxide through the Austin Energy loan program.
The City of San Benito, Texas has received the Texas Renewable Energy Project of the Year Award, for the solar array that will help power its new water treatment plant. The San Benito plant will be able to filter up to six million gallons of water a day, with the photovoltaic system providing about 10 percent of the power used to filter water at the plant. The 45- kilowatt project is the largest of its kind on the Texas-Mexico border.
The EPA recognized Acequia as a 2008 Water Efficiency Leader for exceeding expectations in water management. Acequia surpassed its own five-year goals of sustaining measured water reductions: from 20 percent to 54 percent across nearly 70 commercial properties. Acequia reduced water use by measuring a consumption baseline for all its properties and using this data to establish water management best practices.
