Still like summer in Austin

It's still hot as summer in Austin. But that doesn't stop me from celebrating autumn with green recipes, eco-friendly clothes and tailgate recycling.

It's currently 89.3 degrees Farenheit outside.

Even though the offical start of autumn was a week ago, the sun in Austin is still in summer mode.

For fall though, I'm going to make an effort to walk more instead of drive, since the weather will cool down in mid-October. Plus, the scenery of the capital across from the UT Tower is one of the most beautiful sights.

I'm also trying to exercise my cooking in the kitchen. I want to find more fall recipes to try out, such as chili, apple crisp and tofu recipes. I plan to replace items with organic products and shop at Whole Foods, Central Market or Wheatsville co-op.

Of course fall does mean football season in Texas, so my friends and I will be following all the Longhorn games. I plan to separate and recycle the cups, cans and plasic silverware me and my friends use when we tailgate.

I also definitely want to update my wardrobe this season.

I'll probably go to Buffalo Exchange, which is near campus, and buy some colorful vintage clothing. I'm also interested in Urban Outfitters' "Urban Renewal" line of clothes, which is made from "vintage, deadstock and surplus materials sourced from around the world." It's definitely a must for the season.

I'm really excited for this autumn and the upcoming months! And hopefully this summer weather will dwindle a little bit.
