On Feb. 24, The University of Texas Recycling Task Force Commitee will hold a taste water test, where students can taste tap water and bottled water and see if they can tell the difference.

Fellow longhorns can also sign the Take Back the Tap Pledge that emphasizes using reusable water bottles rather than buying water bottles each time their thirst hits.

According to the UT's Campus Environental Center (CEC), "Americans use about 29 billion water bottles each year, which take manufacturers 17 million barrels of crude oil to produce." The CEC also said that about 5 out of 6 of these water bottles will end up in a landfill.

Check out newdream.org's bottled water cost calculator, to see how much you could save a year by just buying a reuseable water bottle.
