The weather outside is frightful

In the span of an hour, I went through three different seasons: winter, fall and spring.

I know asking about the weather seems like watercooler talk, but seriously Central Texas, what is going on? Weather in Austin is usually very unpredictable. But having inches of snow stick to my shoes as I walk to class in late February? It just rarely happens here. I feel like the crazy snowstorms in the Northeast are trickling down to my city, and it seems a little bit unusual.

Just last week it was chilly (well, what Texans consider chilly) — in the 30s with rain. Then yesterday was one of the brightest and sunniest days that I've seen in awhile. And right now, Austin is in the middle of a ridiculous thunderstorm. Oh wait, it's sunny again! Global warming? Oh, I'm sure.

In other news, The University of Texas is now a step ahead in becoming even more sustainable. Last week the Green Fund passed, and now $5 of each student's tuition will go toward funding research to make the campus more environmentally friendly. It may be cliché, but with over 50,000 students at the university, a little sure does go a long way.
