Be a green Valentine

1) Bike to your date destination. It may seem so simple, but bike over and have a picnic in the closest park. It would be a plus if you whipped up some gluten-free finger foods to share.
2) Light some candles. Dim the lights low and instead use sustainable beeswax, or soy candles. Red Beeswax Candles of Love is an Austin favorite.
3) Give some Fat Turkey. Fat Turkey Chocolate, that is. It's eco-friendly approved, since they use less water in their truffles recipe, use 100 percent Whole Foods chocolate ingredients, and the list goes on and on. Some of the chocolates may be pricier than the typical grocery store candies, but they're still scrumptious.
4) Channel the bonsai. Instead of spending on the usual bouquet of roses, how about buying your love an eco-friendly bonsai tree? They can see it grow straight from the seed. Check out organicbouquet's bonsai tree kit.
5) Paperless 'I love you's. It may seem a bit less intimate to give an e-card on Valentine's Day. But Hallmark has a huge variety of $.99 Valentine e-cards that will make that special someone feel some butterflies in their stomach.
