These businesses have been honored for their green initiatives by city, state or national environmental agencies.

South Burlington Stormwater Services Division, the first municipal stormwater utility in Northern New England, received the EPA's Environmental Merit Award.  The division has made South Burlington a model for managing water quality; carrying out an outstanding program of system maintenance, capital project construction, customer outreach assistance and enforcement.
Vermont Land Trust won the EPA's Environmental Merit Award for 31 years of protecting working farms and productive forestland and encouraging community projects.  The land trust prevents the loss of working lands and protects natural resources and public access to recreational spots. More than 460,000 acres of land has been protected by the trust.
Jim and John Hand pledged to make Hand Motors the first carbon neutral automobile dealership in Vermont and saved more than $36,000 in annual energy costs as they worked toward their goal.  Overall, Hand Motors is saving more than 103,000 kWh of electricity and nearly 9,000 gallons of heating oil each year.
