Manchester marketBy Julian Post, Local CorrespondentFri, Aug 07 2009 at 11:20 PM EST ![]() Hello MNN! A couple weeks ago I traveled to Manchester, VT on a lovely Thursday afternoon. As it happens, the Manchester Farmers Market is held on Thursdays, so I was able to get some information and pictures of a great Vermont market!
Open Thursdays 3 - 6 p.m., the Manchester Market features live music, wine tasting, baked goods, meats, flowers, preserves and produce. It's kind of like a party, neighborhood hangout and outdoor shopping center all at once.

As the popularity of organizations like this grows, some vendors are actually traveling long distances to sell goods in far away markets. For example, the wine featured in Manchester was from the Snow Farm Vineyard located in South Hero, VT, three hours north of the Manchester Market. This slightly more exotic addition to the market is great -- it creates a direct connection to a regional vendor who would normally be a bit out of reach for Manchester residents.
